Homa was born in Tehran, Iran where she spent her childhood and teenage years. She has lived in the UK, and currently resides between Spain and the United Arab Emirates.
In the late 1980, moving to Abu Dhabi with her husband and 2 young children, she discovered pottery at a small art fair. This new passion led her to go back to study Ceramic Design at the Glasgow School of Art.
In 1994 she founded the Abu Dhabi Pottery, the first modern ceramic center in the United Arab Emirates, offering classes and workshops to all levels. To this day, the Abu Dhabi Pottery is proudly helping the growing potter community in the Emirates, providing its expertise in equipment and teacher training as well as advanced workshops.
One of the highlight in Homa’s career happened in 2012 when one of her work was permanently displayed in the National Museum of Iran, it is a piece study that allows the viewer to see the inside intricate double wall design of 4000 year old Persian pots.
Homa has taken part in many exhibitions and has won multi awards from the United Arab Emirates.
The work she creates has covered a wide range of aesthetics over the years but the wheel has kept a central stage in her approach.
The inspiration comes without a doubt from old age Persian forms, evolving as she spent time in Japan.
Her style is profoundly earthy often incorporating the landscape beauties of her native country in her more traditional and large scale vessels. She still relays the deep historical connection to clay in her other more modern and functional pieces. Her work embodies her strength of character and perseverance. She has mastered all things related to pottery but as an avid learner she continues to push all her boundaries and her students'!
Not only a teacher , Homa designs and creates unique pieces for renowned restaurants and individuals. She also has a real passion for ceramic Restoration of ancient and modern pottery/ceramics.
A multi faceted entrepreneur, this master potter is also a keen martial art instructor and a holder of 4th dan black belt.
